Apple has made candidate versions of iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1 available to developers for testing. These updates come just a week after the company released iOS 17.0.3. However, it includes important innovations, especially AirDrop.
What’s new with iOS 17.1 release candidates
Developers enrolled in the beta program for iOS 17 can start downloading iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1 betas. You can check if you have received the package from the Software Update section in Settings. So what has been fixed in the new update?
Some of the new features in iOS 17.1 include the option to favorite songs, albums, playlists, artists and more right on the lock screen. Song suggestions will also be shown on this screen when starting a playlist.
The AirDrop transfer option will no longer require physical proximity. With this package, users will be able to complete file transfers over the internet. In addition, Apple Watch models with watchOS 10.1 and iPhones with iOS 17.1 will be able to use NameDrop.
The update also fixes some software bugs. On iPhone 15 Pro, it prevents the camera and flashlight from accidentally turning on in your pocket. iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will get a new flashlight indicator in Dynamic Island.
With the new developer beta, Apple has shown that iOS 17.1 is nearing completion. If no problems are encountered in the tests, it is possible that iOS 17.1 will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
